IT Central was the hub of BrainShare activity as it showcased technologies from Novell, NETIQ & SUSE.   It's where BrainShare attendees can view the latest products, see the  end-user interface, or walk through the administration features.  

We have heard from and worked with many of our customers over the past few years about their interest in virtualization and how it can help them with many of the issues facing IT.

Oftentimes these conferences can feel like a 3-ring circus with so many sessions of interest, demonstrations and interesting conversations everywhere and certain information overload. Novell took it one step further this year with what many of us feel was the funniest commercial snippet featuring a creepy clown and using that to define the chaos around BYOD and how it is impacting your IT environment.

Windows Time synchronization is often a mystery. Like many processes we are only forced to learn about it when it does not function as we expect. By design each client computer in a domain receives its time from a Domain Controller. Domain Controllers sync their time from the Domain’s PDC Operation Master. It is therefore essential that the PDC time is correct. In order to assure the accuracy of this time we will sync the PDC to an external time source.

A quick note to advise that scammers are continuing to try to use UPS and FexEx as avenues for scams and viruses.  For awhile it was virus-infected attachments that claimed to be invoices or delivery notices.  These are scannable and filterable, so they have changed tactics.

Kirk Koenigsbauer corporate Vice President for the Microsoft Office Division has announced the coding completion of Office 2013 on his blog.
